PASTORS AND ELDERS
The word “presbyterian” comes from the Greek word for “elder”. Hope Chapel is led by a team of pastors who, as elders, oversee and shepherd the church at the pleasure of the congregation. They particularly focus on matters concerning teaching, preaching, and prayer.
Pastor for Preaching and Vision
Pastor Sebastian Kim sensed his call to build biblically functioning churches while he was in college. He wanted to share the heart of God in ways that people could understand. Changing his major from music to theology, he transferred to a Christian university where he could study the word of God on a professional level.
Sebastian earned his B.A. in Biblical Studies at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. He continued his studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, earning a Master of Divinity degree. He then received his doctorate from Covenant Theological Seminary where he explored preaching and hearing in an age of distraction. Sebastian is a contributor to Tabletalk magazine of Ligonier Ministries. He served over thirteen years as Elementary Pastor, Youth Pastor and Lead Pastor in area presbyterian churches before he joined the staff at Hope Chapel in 2011.
Sebastian is married to Jade, and they live in Lutherville with their three daughters, Mina, Mindy, and Noa.
