In the days ahead, Haiti’s churches will be at the center of relief and recovery efforts. Please pray for your brothers and sisters in Haiti as they respond to the despair around them. (How can I pray?)
WHAT IS HOPE CHAPEL DOING?
Joint Bakesale: On Sunday, Jan 24, local Maryland churches, including Hope Chapel, decided to hold a bakesale “together” at our respective churches in order to raise funds for Haiti. All participating churches will be donating proceeds directly to World Relief in order to aid their disaster response effort.
Jan 24 Fundraising
Hope Chapel raised $650.
Bethel raised $520
(more reports to come)
Future Involvement: When the media moves on, the Church will still be there. Our prayers and support will not end with a fundraiser or a check written out to an organization, but rather continue into the aftermath and the years to come. The next several years (if not decades) will be extremely difficult for Haitians, so we are trying to think of ways we can help Haitians long term. Currently, we have pledged our long-term support for World Relief. If you have further ideas on how Hope Chapel can respond, please email the deacon board (deacons@hopechapelmd.com).
WHAT CAN I DO?
First, please PRAY. Pray for the people of Haiti, the Churches in Haiti, and the relief effort there. (How can I pray?)
Second, GIVE. Hope Chapel and other churches have decided to donate to World Relief, particularly because we have members who work there and its headquarters is very close in proximity to us. However, if you’re looking for another (or more) organization(s) to donate your money to for Haiti, here are some options:
- Compassion International
- World Vision
- World Relief
- Samaritan’s Purse
- Northwest Haiti Christian Mission
- Real Hope For Haiti Rescue Center
- Water Missions International
- Feed My Starving Children
- Love a Child
