The Meaning Of Our Logo

Hope Chapel

In 2008, we introduced our new logo with a brand new Hope Chapel shirt design.  We hope you will read this to better understand the meaning of our logo.

In the past, there have been three logos associated with Hope Chapel: one for our bulletin, one for our shirts, and one for our website.  On the old bulletins, we had a cross, the letters H and C, and “Touching the world with hope in Christ” encircling it all.  On the old shirts, we had two squares, with the letters H and C embedded in them.  And on the old website, we had a dove spreading its wings over the words “Hope Chapel”.

Over the years, the significance and meaning of the logos had been lost and we still did not have a single, uniform logo to use.  A new logo was designed to communicate the threefold purpose of our ministry more clearly and meaningfully:

1.  Glorify God
With a cross at the center, we declare to the world that the risen Christ is “My Lord and my God.”  (John 20:28)

2.  Guard the Truth
Today, the truth about who Jesus is and what the Gospel is is being diluted daily and glossed over by more palatable philosophies.  But while Jesus promises reconciliation, Jesus never promised an easy road.  That is what the two colors symbolize.  The three leaves in gray show that Jesus’ blood completely removes our sin from God’s sight and is transforming us into his image.  (2 Corinthians 3:18)  The single orange leaf in the corner symbolizes that we have embraced the hard, but continuing process of sanctification (i.e., becoming transformed into the likeness of Jesus).  We unashamedly tell the world (and remind ourselves, lest we forget) that we here at Hope Chapel know that while our mission is to tell of how Jesus “came into the world to save sinners,” we are chief among them.  (1 Timothy 1:15)

3.  Grow the Kingdom
We have in Jesus Christ a new mandate from God: to transform all peoples with the hope found in the Gospel.  (Matthew 28:18-20)  The leaves growing (or “blossoming”) from the Cross symbolizes this mission: how the truth of who Jesus is encourages us to joyfully go out into the world and tell the good news.  There is no way we can fulfill that mission apart from beginning with and pointing people to Jesus Christ.

We hope that knowing this will serve to remind you constantly of what Jesus did for you and what his good news drives us to do.
